Saratoga Springs Chiropractor Is Enthusiastic About The Benefits Of Chiropractic Care

August 13th, 2011

Saratoga Springs Chiropractor

Have you been a “Doubting Thomas” when evaluating chiropractic care because you’ve heard it’s some kind of “far-out” alternative approach to pain relief? Or, even more detrimental to you, have you been disheartened about getting needed help from this most beneficial kind of treatment by a small number ill-informed, but quite vociferous individuals who believe that chiropractic is actually dangerous? In either case, your Saratoga Springs Chiropractor is excited to let you know that chiropractic treatment has been increasing in popularity for years, and that it is still growing annually as the selected healthcare choice for many people. That’s right! Thousands of individuals, just like you, are taking another look at their choices and choosing chiropractic treatment because of the enormous benefits that such treatment provides. Statistically, there is no other medical approach that has more success when it comes to pain relief, yet is so completely non-invasive to the body. Chiropractic adjustments actually stimulate the body’s innate ability to heal! Your Saratoga Springs Chiropractor will uncover, and get rid of, the reason for your pain], and will never simply try to hide your symptoms with drugs.

Unfortunately, where there’s a musculoskeletal system, like in the human body, there is the probability of musculoskeletal challenges like back pain and neck pain, pain in the shoulder, elbow, hip and knee joints, and ankle and foot pain. No one is immune from misalignment of the spine and joint inflammation. And, when you are hurting, and you want the hurting to stop, it can be tempting to take a drug. However, by not getting to the cause of your pain, and because a drug can’t eliminate the cause, the cause of it will likely get worse. Sports injuries, accidents, and the aging process are generally the culprits that cause musculoskeletal problems. But, no matter what the cause may be, any motion on an injured area of the body can not only result in pain or discomfort, but inactivity. And, it goes without saying, specific musculoskeletal problems can frequently worsen and become permanent disability if left untreated. Without chiropractic treatment as an alternative, you would only be left with just two choices: Live with more and more discomfort or continue to take drugs have been proven to have very serious side effects! But, if you’re thinking what I’m thinking, then neither sounds like a good choice!

Your Saratoga Springs Chiropractor won’t hold back in telling you that in addition to being the best, non-invasive “first option” when you are suffering from back pain, shoulder pain, neck pain, hip pain, knee pain, and even foot pain and hand pain, the benefits of chiropractic care far exceed the ability to correct a particular painful problem. In fact,a person who makes an appointment to see a chiropractor for pain relief, not only get what he or she came in for, which is less pain, but also augmented, a reduction or elimination of lactic acid, more effective travel of oxygen and nutrients within the body, less overall stiffness, less overall pain and soreness, faster recovery time, less stress, and the prevention of future injury! I guess it’s not surprise why chiropractic treatment is the first (and best) choice of more and more people!

Your health is important and it’s good to be cautious. But, now you know there is a choice that may be the best choice for you! Give your chiropractor in Saratoga Springs a call if you’re in pain. Don’t wait for the pain to worsen, when he can help you today! And, I feel confident that once you’ve experienced all of the wonderful benefits of chiropracit, you’re going to want to tell a friend! To borrow a few words of advice: “Friends don’t let friends live in pain!”

If You Have Scoliosis, Chiropractic Treatment By Your Chiropractor In Grand Rapids Can Help

July 8th, 2011

Scoliosis is the medical name for an abnormal lateral (side-to-side) curvature of the spine, which your Grand Rapids chiropractor is highly experienced in treating. Because a person who has scoliosis commonly appears to be leaning to one side, if you are unfamiliar with the might think, instead, that the individual merely has poor posture.

But, there are one or two ways that you can see the difference between poor posture and scoliosis even before your appointment with your Grand Rapids chiropractor. If you were to look at someone with scoliosis in a standing position, you would probably notice that one shoulder is higher than the other, and that the scapula (shoulder blade) is raised or more prominent. You would likely see a larger space between the arm and the body on one side if the person’s arms were hanging loosely at his or her sides. Moreover, one hip would likely elevated or more pronounced than the other. And finally, the head will not appear to be in plumb with the pelvis.

Scoliosis frequently is mild in nature, but it can be quite severe. In cases of the latter both pulmonary and cardiac functions can be restricted if the curve and rib rotation are dramatic enough. The cause of scoliosis in 85 percent of cases is unknown. This type of scoliosis (Idiopathic) is considered to be genetic, or to at least have a genetic component because it tends to run in families.

In general, Idiopathic Scoliosis develops during adolescence when the body is completing the final major growth spurt. This type of scoliosis is most frequently found in girls. A scoliotic curve, if found, should be monitored for any progression. Your Grand Rapids chiropractor can provide periodic examinations and, if necessary, will suggest standing x-rays.

Because most scoliotic curvatures are mild to moderate, a brace is unnecessary. In these cases, regular chiropractic care is therapeutic in both in decreasing and adjusting any compensatory musculoskeletal conditions that can take place.

Looking For Effective Low Back Pain Relief? A Chiropractor In Concord, CA May Be Just What You Are Looking For!

May 18th, 2011

Are you experiencing the agony of back pain? You definitely have company.  There are many people who suffer from back pain. Relief from back pain is quick with a call to a reliable and qualified Concord chiropractor.

Chiropractic does not have anything to do with surgical or drug-related practice; the chiropractor cures the patient by working on his or her spine. The methods that chiropractors used are verified in helping the spine function better and decrease pain just by adjusting spinal restrictions. The usual form of treatment involves the chiropractor applying sudden, yet controlled, pressure on the spinal joint that will push the spine beyond its usual zone of movement. However, the patient might be a tiny bit (actually, quite a bit) surprised! However, you need not be scared of the sudden cracking sound because in a chiropractic treatment instead of “breaking” your back the spine is “fixed” and brought back to its natural shape and function. Chiropractors also use massage techniques to relax the muscles.

Low back pain occurs in a variety of forms. Sometimes a person might experience a dull ache, but some back pain may be strong and very bad. In addition to the pain, a back pain sufferer’s ability to stand erect and carry out normal physical movements might be impaired. Back pain is experienced by some people for only a couple of days, while some people experience acute pain for weeks; but if back pain lasts for more than 3 months, it is known as “chronic”. Having someone walk across your back is not going to help you, but visiting a chiropractor surely can!

Taking advantage of the services offered by a qualified chiropractor will help you to avoid the possible complications that could arise from taking drugs or undergoing surgery to combat low back pain.

To get relief from your annoying back aches, chiropractic treatment is the best – And, you will be doing a lot of good to your liver when you don’t put drugs into your system!

Your Concord chiropractor offers a complete range of services that are all dedicated to improving your overall health and well-being.

Chiropractor In Grand Rapids Develops And Patents Two-Way Traction Devices That Can Relieve Your Neck Pain Once And For All!

February 12th, 2011

Chiropractors are well-aware that often life can be a pain in the neck, literally as well as metaphorically. In fact, your Grand Rapids chiropractor has been treating cervical disc injuries using his patented two-way traction devices for more than eleven years!  Chiropractors also know that the emotional circumstances in your life that frequently seem like a “pain in the neck” may change quickly, but neck pain generated by physical stress and injury can hurt indefinitely and, unfortunately, if not treated, such challenges can get much worse. Pain, tingling, numbness, and weakness down the arm and into the fingers, as well as pain in the immediate neck area, are common symptoms of neck injury. Furthermore, both tension headaches and head pain can often be traced back to neck problems. Finding the reason for your particular neck pain will require a thorough examination and evaluation by your chiropractor because chiropractic treatment has been found to be the most effective, non-invasive treatment that works!

Neck pain and its associated symptoms are caused by a number of neck conditions. The neck might sustain trauma from an accident producing strained muscles, sprained ligaments, and spinal joint injuries. Sitting at a computer and/or performing repetitive tasks can create postural stress as well. Muscular tension and inflammation in the neck and upper back often result from such stress. Abnormal or unhealthy spinal mechanics and weak or overdeveloped muscles can add to postural stress. Other causes of neck problems are “slipped,” herniated, or ruptured cervical discs, and general aging that produces degeneration of the spinal joints and discs creating inflammation of soft tissues leading to chronic pain.

As mentioned above, chiropractor, Dr. Douglas McKenzie, specializes in cervical disc injury treatment using his own patented two-way traction devices.  A chiropractor who has developed a specialized natural and unique mechanical approach to cervical disc injury treatment? Who could ask for more?! In his Grand Rapids chiropractic office, his treatments result in pain relief, decrease in tension, increase in motion, and an overall sense of well-being.

Chiropractors, like this Grand Rapids chiropractor, are experts when it comes to knowledge of the spine and musculoskeletal system. Chiropractic care offers the neck pain relief you’ve been looking for. Don’t wait to visit a chiropractor near you. And, if you’re in the Grand Rapids area, call Dr. Douglas McKenzie. He’ll evaluate and discover the cause for your neck pain and treat it at its source.

Decatur Veterinarian Discusses Physiotheraphy For Canines Suffering From Arthritis Pain

October 13th, 2010

Decatur Veterinarian

Does it seem strange to you that a Decatur veterinarian is writing about arthritis? Well, let me share my reason. I believe that many people don’t know that arthritis isn’t limited to humans. That’s right! Most animals can develop painful arthritis, too, including your dog or cat. And, since certain pets, like dogs, are active companions to “their” humans during many daily activities, arthritis can be especially disabling. Arthritis in humans can make simple activities, such as going for a walk and climbing stairs intensely painful. Because dogs frequently accompany their owners, doing these activities can cause the same kind of pain and debilitating problems.

Just going for a walk, let alone catching a frisbee or running in the park, can be very difficult and extremely painful for a dog with arthritis. In other words, arthritis can take the fun out of doing what dogs do best…have fun! As a active veterinarian in Decatur I am relieved to tell you that treatment for canine arthritis is not solely confined to the use of painkilling drugs. Dogs suffering from arthritis may be able to benefit from the physiotherapy that helps to improve joint mobility, just like humans are. Physiotherapy, in humans, helps to lessen arthritic pain and increase function of the affected joints and limbs. So, how does physiotherapy affect canine joints and limbs, and what therapy is most effective?

Although physiotherapy for dogs has been available for a while now, until recently there hasn’t been many studies done to sufficiently document its effects on canine arthritis. However, a new study by researchers at the University of Veterinary Medicine in Vienna, and published in the American Journal of Veterinary Research, validated the efficacy of physiotherapy in decreasing arthritic inflammation and immobility in dogs.

The researchers studied the movements of the joints in the front and back legs of dogs through the use of a expressly-designed treadmill and delicate computer algorithms. While the researchers took notes and measurements, the dogs performed three types of exercises: walking uphill, walking downhill, and walking over low obstacles.

The experiments showed that the three movement protocols had different and explicit effects on the movements of the dogs’ joints. While walking downhill did not appear to have much therapeutic benefit because it caused the hip to be less bent and the tarsal joint to be less extended, walking uphill caused notably greater bending at the hip, while the stifle joint (the dog’s knee) was less extended. There were also decreases in the accelerations at the carpal and elbow joints. However, the most significant effects came when the dogs walked over low obstacles. This resulted in increased bending of all joints except the hip and shoulder, and greater extensions of the carpal and stifle joints.

You may be wondering, at this point, what all of of this means for your dog? First of all, it indicates that walking uphill is an easy exercise that you could provide to help to improve your dog’s joint flexibility, especially at the hip joint, and that the addition of low obstacles could aid in improving the bending of the joints in the forelimbs and hind limbs. Adding low obstacles should be avoided, however, if your dog has recently undergone surgery for the tibia, as such activity could result in increased bending of the joints and potentially strain the tendon that joins the knee to the shin.

And, as a Decatur veterinarian who loves dogs, I would like to make one final suggestion for “man’s best friend,” since walking downhill wasn’t  shown to be effective anyway, perhaps a nice ride downhill in the car would be a nice treat for your dog once you’ve exercised him or her uphill!

Could One Conversation Change What You Eat?

August 21st, 2010

via Integrative Nutrition Blog by Integrative Nutrition on 8/10/10

Many people shop labels.  Whether its high fashion or expensive cars, a label costs more; it means something to the consumer.  Food is no different.  People who care about the quality of the food they put in their body read labels.  If a label reads “high fructose corn syrup” or “trans fat” an informed consumer will bypass this product.  Whether a food has an organic label or not is also important information for today’s foodies.  If a product has the seal “USDA Organic” the consumer knows that the food was grown or prepared using organic practices and ingredients; however, the producer has paid a fee to the government to obtain that certification.

Many small farmers cannot afford the high cost of the government’s organic label.  According to the Organic Trade Association, referenced in this article on Change.org, 92 percent of organic food sold in this country is sold by mass markets, like Wal-Mart, Costco, or grocery store chains.  By comparison, only 8 percent comes from farmers markets, co-ops, or CSA’s (Community Supported Agriculture).

Quite often the small farmers have organic growing practices; they just don’t pay for the expensive label.  How do you get this important information?  It’s easy; simply start a conversation with the person you are buying your food from.  When you visit the farmers market and you see they do not have an organic label, ask why?   Ask them about their growing practices.   Do they use pesticides, herbicides or other chemicals?  You won’t know until you ask.

Do you only shop for products with the “USDA Organic” label?  Do local farmers in your area provide an opportunity to talk about their growing practices?  What are your conversations like?

Your Chiropractor in Oxnard Offers An Alternative Solution to Your Allergy Problems

August 6th, 2010

Oxnard Chiropractor

Your Oxnard Chiropractor, Donald Bolt, DC, understands that allergy symptoms can make your day-to-day activities  unpleasant. A walk in the park, a play date with Fluffy, a shellfish entree, or just something as small as a nut can easily generate such unwelcome symptoms as itchy eyes, a runny nose, sneezing, or a skin rash.

On the other hand, from time to time a sufferer’s allergic reactions can escalate from simply aggravating to severe and even life-threatening as the air passageway starts to constrict and inhaling and exhaling becomes a struggle. This kind of development of symptoms can commonly bring about a state of panic coupled with a trip to the emergency room.

Allergies can, indeed, become an exceedingly significant matter and cause you to feel incapable of participating in life. In fact, should you be one of the many men and women who have hypersensitivity, it might perhaps appear to you that, on occasion, the environment is a pretty unfriendly space and that the planet all around you is, virtually, out to get you!

You might ponder why it is that other human beings tend to be so immune to the identical environmental challenges that send your body into overwhelm. Others seem either unaware of or completely unresponsive to the potential irritants that lie in wait at just about every turn, while your body reacts, or rather overreacts, to them. Why you? It is a appropriate question. The answer is that many people, just like you, have a hyperactive immune system that virtually “freaks out” when you come across ordinary substances particularly pollen, dander, shellfish, or nuts.

Can your Oxnard Chiropractor help you in gaining a lasting reduction in your allergy symptoms? Fortunately , the answer is a booming “Yes,” and the reason may likely surprise you. A large number of chiropractic patients have noticed that they enjoy freedom from their allergy symptoms after a chiropractic treatment, although chiropractic care does not essentially target allergies, per se. The biology behind the reduction in allergy symptoms is because of the fact that chiropractic treatment has an effect on the complete nervous system, which includes your autoimmune system, and that is the cause of your allergic responses. Whenever there is a dysfunction in the nervous system, along with other problems, the autoimmune system, whose task it is to help you to adjust and react properly to your environment, will likely become under-active or overactive. In the case of your allergies, the dysfunction is the latter (it becomes overactive).

Considering that chiropractic adjustments are intended to reduce or even completely do away with perturbations in the nervous system and bring back equilibrium and harmony to the complete body, together with a variety of corrections, the adjustments impart homeostasis to the autoimmune system at the same time. A vibrant immune system responds normal to so-called allergens within the natural environment.

So, as stated previously, your Oxnard Chiropractor doesn’t essentially target allergy symptoms, though that doesn’t imply your allergies won’t improve or go away for good. On the other hand, you could say, instead, that relief from your allergies is merely the result of your rebalanced nervous system. If you want to get back into a harmonious relationship with your surroundings as soon as possible, connect with Dr. Bolt, your Chiropractor in Oxnard, today. He can help you to enjoy your environment again!

Repeated Concussions a Big Risk for Student-Athletes

June 15th, 2010

As a chiropractor I believe in exercise, whether it’s aerobics, bike riding, or team sports. Keeping the body active keeps the body healthy and strong. However, when it comes to sports activies, it seems that sports injuries are inevitable among young and old alike. And, though many sports injuries can be very serious, I was especially happy to see that there is a current focus on concussions among young athletes who participate in school sports. The question people are asking is: Are schools doing enough to protect their student-athletes? Do you, as a parent, feel that your child is safe when participating in sports at school?  Many parents worry that their young athletes are at risk for serious sports injuries, especially concussions. In fact, the latest C.S. Mott Children’s Hospital National Poll on Children’s Health found that nearly two-thirds of parents of young athletes between the ages 12 – 17 worry that their children will get a concussion while playing school sports.

To make matters worse, researchers have found that youth athletes are more likely to sustain concussions and to take longer to recover from concussions than adults. Furthermore, if a second concussion occurs before a child’s brain recovers from the first, there is a possibility of long-term neurologic conditions.

When surveyed, most parents indicated that they would strongly support school requirements, such as:

    * If a student-athlete sustained a concussion, he or she would need to be evaluated and cleared by a doctor before returning to sports – 84 percent

    * Coaches should to receive education about the risks of concussions

    * After a concussion there should be a mandatory period of non-participation in sports

    * A certified trainer should be on-site for practices and games

High school athletic organizations, injury prevention groups and professional sports leagues have become increasingly active in promoting policies to minimize the risks of repeat concussions among young athletes. But, let’s face it, parents are in a unique position to recognize concussion signs and symptoms that occur outside of school, and to work with coaches, trainers, and other health care personnel to ensure that their child is appropriately monitored throughout his or her recovery and return to play.

Chiropractic Internet Marketing Strategy: Do it Yourself or Outsource?

May 16th, 2010

Here’s an interesting question for you to consider: Do you want to keep your chiropractic internet marketing in-house or do you want to hire a professional? There are pros and cons to both, and the answer lies in your particular situation. Let’s check out the advantages and  disadvantages of both.

Advantages of in-house chiropractic internet marketing

  1. There is a lower monthly cost involved in using someone already employed by you.
  2. The staff knows your practice intimately.  Your staff has a good understanding of your clinic’s particular services and, therefore, is able to describe your specialties easier than those who don’t know the specifics of your particular practice.
  3. You can communicate anytime. Being in-house it is easier to set up times to have meetings or just to chat about situations on the fly.

Disadvantages of in-house chiropractic website marketing

  1. The staff may not be fully aware of what SEO (search engine optimization) is, let alone how to accomplish it. In that case, a lot of education and training will be needed to make sure SEO gets done right.
  2. The staff may be overworked. Sometimes the time it takes to do SEO can be underestimated. It is an ongoing process that can actually be a full-time job.  If a marketing manager has been told to do SEO as well as his or her full time job, obviously that person will be overworked and feel overwhelmed.
  3. Attention needs to be paid to detail. This goes together with Point #2. If the staff is overworked, they have no time to check out search engine news and keep up-to-date on how the search engines have changed the game each week and what needs to be done to implement those changes to keep your clinic internet presence up in the rankings.

Advantages of using an outside professional

  1. Chiropractic marketing companies are specialists in the field.  They have experience in working on numerous clinics and their websites and optimizing them for SEO.  They know, first hand, what works effectively and what doesn’t.
  2. There is a dedicated team at the company who will be working on your site and can give it the attention it requires.
  3. The company has a specific plan and won’t be just jumping around, going from short term tactic to short term tactic with no organized strategy and no clear way to reach your desired goals. In other words, they have an “integrated” internet marketing strategy.

Disadvantages of a chiropractic internet marketing company

  1. Let’s face it, it can get expensive, but costs vary widely from company to company. Some companies out there are charging $600-$700 a month for their services. It is definitely worth your while to shop around and research before you buy.
  2. There is usually a commitment. Most chiropractic internet marketing companies will want you to sign up for at least six months to a year.
  3. Account management can be a problem. With high turnover rates at many companies, especially the big ones, there may be a chance that you’ll get handed from account manager to account manager just when you were building a relationship of trust. You may have to start over again, maybe even have to redesign and reiterate your strategy with the new manager.

Now that you’ve taken a moment to look at the pros and cons of both keeping your internet marketing in-house or hiring a professional, the solution to SEO and your internet marketing strategy will depend on the size of your practice, the time and staffing you can devote to it, and your overall long-term goals.

Now, of course, we are a chiropractic internet marketing company that specializes in helping chiropractors with their internet presence. So, I will admit that I am a bit biased on the side of your hiring an expert to do it right. If you are thinking of hiring a company to develop and implement your internet marketing strategy, it is tremendously important for you to hire one that specializes in chiropractic clinics. Why? Because we understand the chiropractic profession intimately. Therefore, in the long run it will save you both time and money not having to explain what chiropractic is about to some general SEO company. There are several of us out there.

If you are going to go with an outside company, be sure to read the fine print. Look at the bottom of their page for a disclaimer. If they have one, read about their “typical” results. You don’t want to be fooled by outrageous claims even though such hype can be enticing. Remember, your internet marketing strategy is just one stream of new patient leads. Even though chiropractic internet marketing is fast becoming a great source for new patient leads, and even though internet marketing gets more important with every passing day,  and even though it is a crucial area in which to generate new patient leads, it is still not the only source of marketing you will need to succeed in your practice.

Whether you choose to keep your internet marketing in-house or to hire a professional, you want to be sure that the time and money you spend on SEO gets you where you want to go. A member of your staff that does your internet marketing for “free,” while squeezing those efforts in-between other tasks, may “cost” you in the long run. A professional whose sole focus is internet marketing, won’t lose sight of your goals. Internet marketing is essential to your practice, so choose your chiropractic internet path wisely.
